KENEILWE Shuping, daughter of the late gospel musician Oleseng Shuping, is carrying on with the family tradition as a tribute to her father.

Oleseng, who was one of South Africa's gospel icons, having produced many a successful albums, died last year after a long struggle with pneumonia.

Following in her father's footsteps, Shuping is launching her music career in style with a gospel album titled Jesu Mmabaledi.

Shuping, who was born in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, says her father had introduced her to Cool Spot Productions in 2005.

"Before his car accident, he took me to Cool Spot boss Ken Haycock and told him that one day I would continue in his footsteps," she recalls.

And as they say, the rest is history.

Shuping says Jesu Mmabaledi will help gospel fans experience her own spiritual and emotional journey.
