          Cristina Grajales is an Art World Visionary

          I’ve been lucky enough to have extraordinary mentors as a fashion and design editor, but Cristina Grajales holds a unique position as one of my spirit guides for her prescient instinct for ferreting out new talent and shedding light on the work of iconic artists.

          We met around 1990, during my first year as style editor at House & Garden. I was walking past 1950, the gallery of famed French 20th-­century Art Deco and decorative arts dealer Tony De­Lorenzo, where Cristina was then working, and I stopped to peer into its large windows.

          I saw her radiant face beaming, beckoning me to come in.
