The Four Jacks and a Jill must be the longest running group in SA's pop history.
Glenys Lynne (Mynott) came into their life when the Zombies were engaged to back her on the Dickie Loader Show in Cape Town, in Glenys.
Four Jacks and Jill have, as such, been going since 1966 although the FJ & J history goes back to 1962 when FJ & J bassist Clive Harding formed a group with Graham Woods, a friend of his. Graham Woods died in a car accident shortly afterwards.
In 1964, after 29 personnel changes, Clive Harding finally settled on Tony Hughes (drums), Bruce Bark (lead-guitar, vocals), and Keith Andrews (rhythm guitar, organ).
He named the group the Nevadas. Bobby Fraser (vocals) and Julian Laxton joined briefly before the group renamed itself as the Zombies.
Glenys Lynne (Jill), Clive Harding (bass), Till Hanamann (guitar), Bruce Barks (guitar), and Tony Hughes (drums).Now Johnny Collini had taken over on the vocals.
